Battle Of The Bands National Championship: Heat 4
Kicks off: November 5 '09 @ 21:00
The Battle Begins!!
With over 80 bands from across the country already signed up for New Zealand's leading R18 National Band Championship the first round kicks off in Mid October with events at Bar Bodega in Wellington, Al's Bar in Christchurch and the Kings Arms, Stampede & the Kingslander in Auckland. Knockout rounds will be playing throughout October and November at these and other venues, leading up to the National Final at the King's Arms in Auckland on December 19th.
This year's championship will also see the introduction of a 'people's choice' addition to the judging panel, allowing for greater involvement by the fans in determining the eventual winning line up, which based on the quality of this year's entrants isn't going to be easy.
The competition is open to all musical genres, the only restriction being that all band members must be over 18 years of age. So this is a great opportunity for newly formed or upcoming bands to test their readiness in a live play off and for the more seasoned players to demonstrate why they should be named as the nation's best band.
Interested bands are still able to register at the Battle's web site www.battleofthebands.co.nz, entry costs just $60. Entry is limited to the first 120 bands to register, so early registration is recommended. The winning band will receive a host of goodies including professional recording time, live appearances, musical equipment and more.
