The Ataris
There was a time when punk rock was all aboutnational anthems of broken heart triumphs and busted dime-store telecasters.Throwing out your heart on your flannel sleeve and howling at the moon.
The scene's different now; over-run by weepingamateur hairdressers with the Goth virus and cheap Maybelline scars.
But there are those that remember the glory days -the working class heroes of the hard luck tale...
Born in the back of a broke-down van, THE ATARIScarved out a niche as cornerstones of the Indiana scene; delivering the American Dreamin the form of good, victorious rock ‘n' roll. Their 2003 breakthrough album"So Long, Astoria"thrust them to the fore of the pop-punk world, reaching #20 on the Billboardcharts and giving a super-charged second life to Don Henley's ‘Boys of Summer'
Now on the verge of their much anticipated 5thstudio album ‘The Graveyard of theAtlantic', THE ATARIS are bringing the sound of the glory days down underin an extensive New Zealandtour. No gimmicks, no hysterics - just the heart-felt working class songs ofenigmatic front man Kris Roe and his cohorts. Renowned for their blood, sweatand tear-soaked live performances, an Ataris show is a musical catharsis and awelcome return to a genre's halcyon days.
