Joe Fogarty and The Night Trains
Kicks off: August 13 '09 @ 21:00
Joe Fogarty is a 32 year old rock musician. Growing up in Titahi Bay, he has been playing guitar since the age of 14 and has been a passionate fan of music his whole life.
His influences include Jane’s Addition, Jeff Buckley, Miles Davis, Guns n’ Roses, Beck, Bob Dylan and countless others. His own compositions have an eclectic feel and have been described as Keith Richards fronting Jane’s Addiction.
Over the years Joe has featured primarily as a guitar player in various bands (Backhander, Element and Gordon) that have played in all the main Wellington venues (Bodega, Valve/Hole in the wall/Indigo), but has now branched out and recorded an album where he not only plays the guitar, but also handles all vocal duties.
He is backed by his band ‘The Night trains’ which is comprised of Jason Aitofi on bass, Mike Aitofi on drums and Aaron Ludlow on guitar.
Joe Fogarty and the Night trains will be playing Bodega on the evening of Thursday August the 13th – this gig also serves as the launch of Joe’s independent debut solo album, “Somedays”.
“Somedays” is a collection of self-penned compositions that was recorded between January and May 2009 Put simply, it is a layered collection of rock songs that blends alternative, blues, jazz and folk rock with a strong emphasis on melody and guitar. Jason and Mike Aitofi contributed bass and drums respectively. “Somedays” is an impressive accomplishment with a professional sound, despite the fact it is entirely self-produced. Troy Kelly from STL Audio mastered the album, providing the sonic scope and depth that truly brings out the nuances of the multi-faceted arrangements.
Joe Fogarty will be playing several Wellington venues throughout 2009, and his album “Somedays” will be available via itunes and at gigs.
