LOCCCKKKKKK & LOLLLLLL! FROM TOKYO JAPAN – THE RETURN of GUITAR WOLF!
Japan’s GREATEST JET ROCK & ROLL !

http://www.guitarwolf.net/

Guitar Wolf are Japan’s Greatest Jet Rock & Roll Band. They deconstruct rock and roll to its most basic elements.

The Guitar Wolf experience is hard to define. Imagine if your garage is occupied by a clanky old Toyota piled up with Ramones, Joan Jett and Link Wray records, half empty pomade cans, grade Z sci-fi monster movie posters, rusted Meccano sets, and tumbling fluorescent lightbulbs all soaked in gasoline and reignited with comically large matchsticks

Live, Guitar Wolf explode with a complete disregard for anything resembling song structure, their songs only rarely wrung back into place by a loud scream of “LOCCCKKKK ANDDDD LOLLLLL!”. Their continued vivisection of Link Wray’s two most basic chords, often played while Seiji (Guitar Wolf) is hanging upside down from the rafters, forming a human pyramid, jumping off speaker stacks or giving his guitar to an audience member to slap at while they play at a volume as if we are all deaf anyway … GUITAR WOLF is DANGEROUS rock and roll, and not for the faint hearted.

Their previous shows in NZ are legendary, and the Tokyo trio have certainly made an impact here. On an early visit  in the late nineties noise control officers  shut down their Kings Arms show.  The show moved across town to Java Jive in Ponsonby – and the Wolves were rocking within an hour . Late 2005 they blasted  K Road shoppers in a mid day performance above  the Illicit store  and an impromptu Boxing Day show hosted by a new fan who supplied free beer and pizza in her North Shore lounge saw Dion from the D4 having to fill in on bass when one Wolf indulged in a little too much Christmas cheer. Local video production company Buttobase even named themselves after a Guitar Wolf song.
The D4 covered   Invader Ace on their first album and became blood brothers. Their first foray to the Land Of The Rising Sun were as guests of Guitar Wolf with a local rapper even referencing the experience in one of his songs!
